Want to take your diving skills to the next level? Want to be a better diver and safer dive buddy?

PADI’s Rescue Diver certification helps divers strengthen their knowledge of dive safety, hone their situational awareness and learn the skills necessary to recognize, respond to, and, most importantly, help prevent diving emergencies for themselves and those around them.

Rescue Diver is a thoroughly rewarding, but challenging course and requires both knowledge development and in-water training for certification. After completing the PADI eLearning portion of the class, students join an instructor for three training days, either from a shoreline location (conditions permitting), pool or on our dive boat. All training days involve direct participation in scenarios requiring active problem solving, critical thinking and strenuous physical activity.

PADI Rescue Diver is both a physically and mentally demanding course, however it is also the most productive course for advancing your dive skills and safety. If you’re serious about becoming a safer, more well-rounded diver, PADI’s Rescue Diver course is for you. Essential for divers who dive without a professional or in destinations and environments that require more personal responsibility.

While not required, if you haven’t invested in a set of personal scuba gear yet, consider doing so before starting the Rescue Diver course. You’ll spend a lot of time taking your equipment on and off and learning self-rescue techniques. Having gear you’re familiar with and comfortable using is beneficial during this course.

Prerequisites for the PADI Rescue Diver certification:

  • Must be at least 12 years old.
  • EFR Primary and Secondary Care training or equivalent certification within the last 24 months.
  • Advanced Open Water Diver certification or Adventure Diver certification with completion of the Underwater Navigation Adventure dive.
  • Complete the knowledge portion of this course using PADI eLearning. Available on your smartphone, tablet or personal computer and can be completed at your leisure anytime before the in-water portion of your class begins. Please add Kona Diving Company as your affiliate dive shop.

Before you Book:

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness and the PADI Rescue Diver course in particular is both a physically and mentally demanding course. Mobility issues, chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving. Review the diver medical questionnaire before enrolling in any scuba course.

IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER

Scuba diving is an extreme sport and restrictions must be adhered to before, during and after to mitigate potential health risks. Post-diving, this includes flying, going to altitude, freediving and other activities that could contribute to Decompression Sickness.
